The type of music that makes you feel like you’re floating in the sky.

Beats 1’s weekly radio show, One Mix, continues its foray into drum ‘n’ bass with another incredible artist this weekend.

Fresh from releasing his third studio album, UK artist Etherwood will be taking the decks for One Mix. In Stillness, released just a week ago, is the perfect embodiment of Etherwood’s eclectic sound. Created in the Nordic wilderness, it’s no surprise the album is heavily influenced by nature, isolation, and tones of tranquility and warmth.

Etherwood has a penchant for combining DnB’s raw energy with honest elegant soundscapes. An exemplary take on liquid funk, a subgenre marked by focus on traditional instrumental sounds over bar-based creation, Etherwood’s style is deeply inspired by his background as a multi-instrumentalist. Rather than synths, his music is dominated by classic elements like the piano, guitar and saxophone, atop captivating DnB beats. Not to mention, he often sings on his songs, adding layers of honest vocals over soundscapes already brimming with emotion.

The amalgamation of such diverse influences results in an overall sound that is atmospheric, angelic and poignant.

Tune into Beats 1 One mix to hear what he’s all about.

Air Dates:
Friday 9th March 2018 – 23:00 LA / 02:00 NY / 07:00 UK
Saturday 10th March 2018 – 06:00 LA / 09:00 NY / 14:00 UK

Expect the finest liquid DnB on his One Mix, with tunes from artists like Spectrasoul, Mohican Sun, Alix Perez, Om Unit, Dawn Wall and Haolgenix, and of course, stand out tracks from his recent 15 track LP

Before the mix, we got a chance to ask Etherwood some questions. Read on

what so not

What So Not- Not All The Beautiful Things

One of the most musically creative duos has finally released their biggest album to date. Made up of Flume and Emoh Instead, Australian duo What So Not dropped their next album titled Not All The Beautiful Things.

The album, comprised of twelve tracks, showcases the duo’s diverse sound and creativity to make truly unique music. The growth of What So Not has allowed them to feature mega talent on the album as well. You’ll see features from San Holo, Toto, BUOY, and even Skrillex and Dyro.

The tracks are all individually so different. What So Not kept their indie-house sound on songs like ‘Be Ok Again’, ‘Beautiful’, and ‘We Keep On Running’. The track ‘Monsters’, featuring Michael Christmas and Tobi Lou, is essentially a hip-hop song with a Flume beat. ‘Goh’, featuring Skrillex, and ‘Bottom End’, featuring Dyro, are the two hardest songs on the album, incorporating heavy synths and vibrant drops. No surprise there.

Overall, Not All The Beautiful Things is a masterclass in production. It is very different than anything on the mainstream platform, so the album won’t be for everyone. But the fact that the album is produced so well, features so many other big name artists, and has such diverse sounds makes What So Not’s new LP a must listen- even if it is one time through. They’ve definitely earned at least that.

The Night – Dan and Alana

Yesterday, a cryptic post by Nero was scattered across all Nero social media channels.

“For the past decade you’ve stood by our side as Nero. It’s now time to tell a different story.” Members of the trio, Dan Stephens and Alana Watson, signed the post. The words “The Night” appear on the post as well. We speculate this to be the title of a new project by the duo.

The group had huge happenings during the summer of 2017. Third Nero-member Joseph Ray delivered his first solo release project with Meli entitled ‘Inside‘. He also spent a lot of time teaching and collaborating with local musicians in Haiti. Married couple Stephens and Watson announced a baby on the way around the same time in June. It’s full steam ahead for these parents as they announced a musical hiatus for the remainder of that year.

The Night was first mentioned by Dan with Fabric when he stated: “We felt like we needed a bit of time away from the group after the second album.” Since then, they’ve had multiple side project ideas. Here comes ‘The Night‘, a hard to define genre-wise project but a very different vibe from Nero. Most of it will sit at 90 – 110 BPM. The two have even hinted they’ve got an album’s worth of material well on its way to completion. The first single on their EP is called ‘Different Story‘ which they have assured us will be jaw dropping.

With an imminent release date but no artwork or label, it does seem uncanny. Nevertheless, while we wait in suspense on this extended hiatus, let’s see what The Night brings us. It may seem like the group is breaking up, but maybe they’re just evolving.

Ben Gold & Audrey Gallagher – There Will Be Angels

Ben Gold teamed up with Audrey Gallagher to produce ‘There Will Be Angels’, a soothing vocal infused track which will be hitting the top of the charts in no time.

The British Trance legend is the future of Trance music. Britain has a long history of producing top level Trance acts, but Ben Gold has the potential to be one of the best. Ben’s resume includes the Official ASOT 750 Anthem and the widely acclaimed track ‘Kingdoms’ which was released last November.

His latest track, the first release from his upcoming album, blends the U.K. artist’s radiant signature sound with the soaring vocals of Audrey Gallagher. Mixed with a powerful melody and strong lyrics, this cut proves yet another stand-out single ready to take over the world.

The collaboration between Ben and Audrey is certainly one we’d love to see again. This track however, is a magnificent prelude to what is sure to be a busy year for the London native. The hype surrounding Ben Gold has been growing exponentially over the last several years, and the time is ripe for him to release his debut artist album. Sound Advice, Ben’s album, is set to be released soon and pre-order begins today.

We have been waiting for new music from the inspirational producer TEED (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs) for years now, and good news: he has finally delivered with a gorgeous new track entitled ‘Leave A Light On.’

Even though TEED released the track on his own birthday, he decided to gift us with his first new song in years to celebrate.

The emotional ballad takes listeners on a journey through beautiful melodies and glistening synths. TEED’s mastery of artistry and song-writing is on full display. We are elated that so many producers are pushing electronic music to new artistic heights and not just creating EDM bangers.

TEED is currently working on an album, and the process of creating it has been “incredibly hard” for him, in his own words. If ‘Leave A Light On’ is any indication of what we can expect, then we are extremely excited for the album and we know all of his hard work and efforts will be worth it.

Listen to the track below!

It is so terribly sad that this has become such a huge problem in our society today. It breaks my heart that the days of feeling free at music festivals are long gone. However, in turn, it’s so great that law enforcement is putting so much effort to make attendees feel safe.

In the wake of the tragic Las Vegas shooting that killed 59 and left more than 500 injured, the Miami Police Department is reworking its security measures for the upcoming Ultra Music Festival this month.

The Vegas shooter opened fire on the crowd of Route 91 Harvest Festival from the 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay Resort Hotel and Casino.

Since Ultra takes place in Bayfront Park in downtown Miami, this has become a great concern. The festival is surrounded by high rise condos and hotels.

Between traffic adjustments and bus rerouting, representatives for MPD and Ultra explained their plans for responding to a “mass casualty” situation. Additionally, each of the skyscrapers surrounding Bayfront Park will be assigned a number. Officers will use the numbers to quickly identify where a hypothetical gunman could be posted in the event of a shooting. SWAT teams will also be present during the event.

MPD also detailed other security measures and information about road closures and related topics. To prevent drugs or firearms from entering the park, the festival will enforce a clear-bag policy. Amnesty boxes will be placed at the gate for attendees to surrender any drugs or weapons to the police. No questions asked.

Police will also monitor entrances and use exit chutes to eject anyone causing trouble. The festival will again use Formula E racing fences to secure the grounds, which have been enforced since 2014, when a mob of gate-crashers trampled a security guard.

Hopefully, all attendees can experience a worry-free, fun, and exciting weekend, without feeling scared or in danger.

Traffic rerouting will begin Thursday, March 22nd. This will include the closure of northbound Biscayne Boulevard from Chopin Plaza to NE Fourth Street. Traffic will return to normal on Monday morning, after the festival. The festival will take place Friday, March 23rd, through Sunday, March 25th, 2018.

If you haven’t already got your tickets, you can do so here.

March 8 is the day women commemorate the struggle to live in a more equal society, where we don’t get paid less for the same job, and receive as many opportunities as men in every aspect of life. The music industry is also conscious about this matter, and yesterday, in honor of International Women’s Day, Spotify took another step forward in erasing the gender gap. Sponsored by Smirnoff, the online music streaming company introduced a new exclusive tool for their music player, the Smirnoff Equalizer.

What’s the concept behind this idea? The Smirnoff Equalizer is meant to show users a breakdown with percentages of their listening habits in terms of gender. Then, for those who listen primarily to one gender, Spotify will generate more balanced playlists based on the user’s preferences. The brilliant initiative came up after Spotify’s 2017 statistics showed that 100% of the top streamed tracks were performed by men.

This is not be the first time that Smirnoff has engaged in equality-oriented activities. In May 2017, Smirnoff was part of the ‘Equalizing Music‘ campaign that aimed to empower female DJs and producers and encouraged them to become more active in the electronic music scene.

Are you ready to discover new amazing tunes from women artists? Connect to Spotify and enjoy the Smirnoff Equalizer here.

This is just gonna make getting your music in front of fans that much easier!

If you’ve been putting out music, you must be fully aware of the names like Repost Network, SCPlanner and Artist Engine. If you’re not, let us give you a small rundown!

To start off, Repost Network has been around for quite some time now and is basically a service that allows eligible users to monetize, protect and distribute their songs. It’s a service that is widely used by artists, labels and promo channels across different platforms.

SCPlanner is a pretty neat and useful tool too and helps make the lives of people that own promo channels or artists that are on the repost chain a bit easier. It schedules the date and time when your account will repost certain song(s) and typically lasts for 24 hours. Some of the biggest names that use this service include Disciple Records, Run The Trap, Twonk etc.

Now coming to Artist Engine, it’s a quite useful tool too for independent artists doing self-releases. Being a Follow to Download service, it allows the artist to put a gate on the song. For example, the user will have to follow the artist on certain social media platforms, like and repost the track to download the song. Now, it might sound a bit tedious but it all happens with just a click. But, there are some artists who set up a super complex and hard to navigate gates that just makes the user to not want follow further just give the download a pass.

Coming to the big news, it was recently announced by Repost Network that they’re acquiring both SCPlanner and Artist Engine and also stated that “Both sites will continue to exist as stand-alone services, and will be available to the general public despite the acquisition; however, both companies will eventually gain access to Repost Network’s SoundCloud monetization and distribution pipelines to greater expand their service offerings.”

In addition, Gilles Bernhard, the founder of SCPlanner & Artist Engine and Jeff Ponchick, the CEO of Repost Network both commented on the exciting acquisition:

Gilles: “I am very excited about this new chapter for SCPlanner and its users. As a big fan of the work Repost Network has been doing for artists and labels, I strongly believe that their revenue tools combined with our marketing and infrastructure based tools will create a must-have service offering for artists looking to build a living in this industry.”

Jeff: “Gilles and his team have consistently knocked the ball out of the park on both services they have created, and as such, they have advanced the very way in which higher performing artists interact with the SoundCloud platform. We’re excited to bring in such a visionary product team to the Repost Network, and to continue to roll out more service offerings so that more creatives can make a living through their music online. At the end of the day, SoundCloud is a creator-driven platform, and the tools which support such creators are the linchpin of the platform.”

This will only lead to simplicity, act as a one-stop service and ease the promo process for any artist & label. Definitely an exciting time for both the parties!

Deadmau5 is one that always marches to the beat of his own drum. In this upcoming show, though, he will be performing all of his songs with an orchestra.

Every artist has their vision for performing their music live. In the era of EDM, digital DJ controllers and CDJ’s dominating the landscape for the performing producers everywhere. While those methods of performing lend itself to convenience, some producers decide to go down a path on their own and do something different.  Deadmau5, in particular, is infamous for his use of intricate live setups. For an upcoming concert in LA, he has decided to do something few producers have ever done before.

In his partnership with Tidal, Deadmau5 will do an exclusive performance with an orchestra titled “Where’s the Drop?“.  The show will combine original tracks by Deadmau5 “re-envisioned” with the help of an orchestra led by musical director, Gregory Reveret.

The shows will take place on March 31st & April 1st (for real) at the Wiltern in Los Angeles and will be streamed live on Tidal. For those of you in the LA area and want to go, tickets are on sale now.  As part of this exclusive show, Deadmau5 will release an album with the same name that will have 17 of his songs performed by the orchestra. The album will be released on Tidal March 30th. For a taste of what this show will be, a teaser video can be found below.

What do you guys think of this exclusive collaboration? Do you want to see more well known producers do this sort of project?

The inaugural winter festival’s theme, ‘The Hymn of the frozen Lotus’, promises to be yet another incredible chapter in the story of Tomorrowland. The Alpe d’Huez Grand Domain Ski area will be reserved solely for holders of Tomorrowland Winter Tickets, and guests will be able to choose either a 4-day or 7-day ticket including access to the festival, accommodation, and a lift & ski-pass.

CRSSD2018_0303_1655-2428_EDS.jpgThe bi-annual CRSSD Music Festival made its way back to the beautiful waterfront location in downtown San Diego for Spring 2018. Surrounded by sunshine, palm trees, pirate ships, music, and craft beer, you can’t help but have a smile plastered across your face as you prance around what I am sure is a perfectly curated paradise. Still a relatively new festival, CRSSD impressed once again with a top-notch lineup and fun environment that exceeded my expectations.

Techno and house dominated the weekend. The Palms stage stood out small but powerful with its beautiful setup, covered in eye-catching lush greenery. The City Steps stage stood tall with a shade structure towering over the crowd, sprinkled with fast moving lights that made the night sets boom with colorful visuals. Although I didn’t visit the Ocean View stage much, it was spacious with plenty of room to dance and watch the massive stage light up with flashy production. The small atmosphere of the festival allowed you to watch a lot of music in a short amount of time, one artist flowing right into the next.

Saturday started off the weekend right with Toolroom’s Weiss, the ever so funky Honey Dijon, MK, the entrancing Nora En Pure, Dense & Pika, the legend himself Eric Prydz as Cirez D, and Dirtybird standard Shiba San to name a few. This day was jam-packed with all versions of house music. Back to back at the palms, each act took the stage and dominated. Honey Dijon wowed with some of the best tech house I’ve had the pleasure of watching. It was so incredibly funky and had everyone in the crowd moving more than they had all day. When night fell, things got real when Cirez D took City Steps- I had been waiting for years to see Prydz in his dark techno form and he did not disappoint. Everyone in the crowd had their jaws dropped as he played some of the dirtiest beats I’ve ever heard. Eric Prydz oozes talent and was worth the wait.

Sunday brought some serious heat with Eli Brown, Camelphat, Brazilian techno queen ANNA, Dirtybird favorite Walker & Royce, This Ain’t Bristol’s shining star Kyle Watson, MalaaGorgon City and so so much more. But one set that blew me away was Anna Lunoe– this absolute powerhouse took the stage and all eyes were on her. She owned the Palms with this unprecedented electricity that can only be described as awe-inspiring. Much of the crowd had been there at back to back sets for hours and she brought everyone back to life with some hard-hitting house. Kyle Watson was one of the top sets of the day as well, making a massive US debut to a lot of fans (including myself) who have been waiting to see him for a very long time. His set was heavy, melodic, and upbeat all at the same time while carrying consistency.

I have seen many of these artists in the past, but these sets were the most impressive I’ve ever witnessed them perform. They brought their best and showcased it to a crowd who went absolutely wild to every second of it.

However, every festival has its qualms. Once you got there, you were greeted with a very invasive security search. They took my empty refillable water bottle, chapstick, and (expensive) lipstick- their trashcans were FULL of confiscated stuff that looked harmless. I know they are just doing their job but it was a little bit of a buzzkill. They also only had one water refill station in the entire festival… one. This led to buying water all weekend so we could avoid making the long trek to wait in line and refill our water bottles.

The set up of the festival was long and narrow. During the day everything was wide open and spacious, but at night, going place to place got a bit chaotic. The portapotties were a place I avoided at all costs, it was a madhouse. They were over the big water fountains and only had a handful of small bridges leading to them, causing a build-up of rushing people. The plus side- there was a stellar selection of craft beer, wine, and cocktail stands everywhere, taking the edge off of the somewhat stressful experience.

Overall, CRSSD swept me off my feet, swooning me into techno and house oblivion. The music, vibes, and experience were unprecedented, to say the least. I only see this festival growing, getting bigger and better with each passing year. CRSSD delivered one of the best experiences I have ever had and curated a space that is any music lovers dream. This festi-cation was one for the books and I will definitely be making my way back to the waterfront.

Heads up, Headliners! Insomniac just made future music festivals even better. The festively innovative company has long been a force to be reckoned with. Pasquale Rotella is a juggernaut that never sits idly by. His quick changes to EDC Las Vegas 2018 exemplify this adaptation to change in the music scene. LiveXLive has partnered with Insomniac to enhance and potentially expand the ways in which music lovers experience Insomniac’s festivals. Their expertise in live video streaming, virtual reality, augmented reality, and video-on-demand make the perfect viewing platform for Insomniac’s staple of events.

“This collaboration with LiveXLive is a key part of our mission to expand…into key global markets,” said Rotella. The CEO has always been an advocate for looking through unique lens to experience everything this culture promotes. This experience will carry on into Asian, European, Latin American markets and beyond.

The five year partnership is set to launch with EDCLV and expand to include over 50 Insomniac events. Beyond Wonderland SoCal, HARD Summer, Nocturnal Wonderland, Escape, EDC Orlando, Dreamstate SoCal, and Countdown will be next.

Having the ability to tap into an immersive viewing experience from nearly any connected screen is huge. A landmark deal like this is game changing for the electronic dance music festival scene. To current and future festival goers alike, let’s get ready to take it to the next level.

Over the past few days Tomorrowland has been publishing some odd teaser videos. These cryptic videos are even more cryptic than Tomorrowland is usually known for being. The videos have no titles and provide no information at all. At first many suspected they were leading up to the Tomorrowland 2018 Planaxis back story. At first glance the videos seem to show an underwater world within the globe. However, new rumors point to an impending announcement of a Tomorrowland Winter festival.

A French Ski resort Alpe d’ Huez is currently seeking ambassadors for a Tomorrowland event. The website describes the plan as thus:

A unique combination: the experience of Tomorrowland festival and the opportunity to ski in the most beautiful ski resort of Europe. An integral fusion between music, ski and nature.

The website indicates that the Tomorrowland Winter will take place in 2019 in March, from 9 to 16, after the school holidays. The concerts would be held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Visitors would be welcome to choose between a 4 or 7 day ski pass. We have a feeling the festival might actually take place over the typical Fri-Sunday timeframe.

To add to the mystique, has been registered with an official Tomorrowland contact email. The official Tomorrowland website began redirecting yesterday to a site called, and today it is It appears this is a countdown, and the countdown ends on….March 12. At first, the iPhone X looked like a new direction for Apple with an almost full-screen display, the first OLED Display on an iPhone and an all-new design with the most durable glass ever in a smartphone, front and back.

There was just one cosmetic eyesore on the device that had a lot of consumers at first glance puzzled and that was the notch located at the center top of the device.

It was mocked heavily, unsightly and interrupted an otherwise flawless design. While many early adopters of the iPhone X just had to get used to it, Apple seems to have plans in the works to possibly remedy this blight.

According to a report out of Korea, Apple wants to first minimize the notch when it launches a trio of new iPhone X-like devices this year but hopes to eventually do away with it once the 2019 model rolls in.

The notch wasn’t all bad though, it allowed Apple to utilize a complex TrueDepth camera system for Face ID. It remains to be seen if such biometrics would be affected if the notch is eventually removed, but it seems that while it may have taken a while Apple had always planned on doing away with said notch eventually.
